Change. Hard word for most. Some people like change. Some people are used to change because they have never had a life that has a constant. Some, like me, hate change, scared of change perhaps.
Endings. Yet another hard word. Endings can be good. Like, an ending to a miserable time. But then again, there is always bad in something good and vice versa. Endings mean that something is over, never to come again. Whatever is ending will never happen again. That moment is lost, it’s gone. You may visit it again but that exact moment will never occur again. You may have heard that endings are just the beginning of something new, but maybe something new isn’t what we need, or maybe it’s something we don’t want but something we blindly, but desperately need.
Change and endings go hand in hand. We are afraid of change because we know with change, comes an ending to something and with an ending comes something new. We hate endings because they more than likely cause tears. But tears are simply things that wash out our eyes so we can see clearly again. So maybe, endings and change are good for us. But knowing that definitely does not make things easier. Perhaps endings are a chance for us to start over, to have a clean slate. Endings give us a chance to become who we wanted to be all along and not what we had become. Perhaps endings really are we want, we just don’t know it. Or, maybe you do want an ending, but you’re scared. You’re scared of what you don’t know. “Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity”.
Maybe, change is good in another way. We tend to resent God for causing change and for endings. For instance, if someone that means so much to you dies, who do we blame? Most likely God. After all, he is the mighty man who can do anything. But do you think that change is not a punishment but it is a way to get his creations to cling to him. Because more than anything that’s what he wants for us. He wants us to cling to the one thing in this world that will not change, nor end. Maybe, just maybe that is the whole point of change and endings.
Change- chance for us to cling to the unchanging God
Ending- chance for us to start over and be who we really want to be
